About the tours
Driving You Wild doesn’t run on a regular schedule as the cost of that system is way too high. We build each tour from a pool of interested parties so the operation is much like ‘standby’ and the cost is approximately half the normal minibus fare.
Full day tours usually take place on any day from Wednesday to Sunday as Ric is committed to radio broadcasts on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Each tour takes a maximum of 8 people and except for Half Day Tours, wherever possible all guests from the Brisbane metropolitan area are picked up from home and returned to home.
Most tours take place within a radius of about 30 kilometres of the CBD of Brisbane and all wildlife seen is both wild and free. No zoos.
Half Day Tour - $45 per person - ideal for clubs and associations!
The half day tours are really designed for clubs and associations where all 8 people can be picked up from one address. Pickup is about 8.00 am. A generous morning tea is provided between 10.30 and 11am and the tour finishes back at the pickup point about 1.30pm. The cost is $45 per person.
Full Day Tour with BBQ lunch $75 per person
Pickup from home and return to home. All on board by about 9.00amTour includes morning tea as well as the BBQ lunch and all returned home by about 5.30pm.
Full Day Tour with restaurant lunch $85 per person
Same as above except that lunch is a very relaxed affair in a restaurant overlooking a huge pond (usually) full of Black Swans and an array of other native waterfowl. Pickup times and return times same as above. Guests can purchase separately a glass of wine to accompany the meal provided.
What you will see
With wild animals nothing is guaranteed, but the average full day tour will include all or most of the following…
Kangaroos and wallabies, koalas, flying foxes and up to 100 species of native birds, some of which will be globally recognized as endangered, rare or vulnerable. Many you will probably have never seen before and you may be very surprised at where they can be found.
What to bring
If you have your own binoculars, by all means bring them, however binoculars and a fine telescope are provided. Sunscreen, complimentary cold bottled water and soft drinks are also provided.
